One of the problems with being an all-natural company is that some of our products can easily harbor little stowaways.
I don't mind my organic apples having the occasional bug or bruise; we prefer to sell our products the same way: all-natural and chemical-free.
We recommend that you treat your bran or bedding first at home in the future, no matter who you buy it from.
When you get your bran or grain for your colony, you can bake it in the oven at 175° F for about 20 minutes to kill insects or mites. Let it cool completely before adding worms to it. This will not destroy webs that any bugs have made.
Alternatively, you can place the bag in your freezer and store it there until use.
Since you're seeing webs, your bran is likely affected by the common Pantry Moth. They are a common pest that quickly enters bran, chicken meal, cereals, etc. They do not bite or carry disease, but can cause allergic reactions in a tiny percentage of the population.
It will be safe to use as long as you have baked or frozen your bran. You may want to sift your refrigerated mealworms to remove them from any bedding and discard that bedding as well.
