We feed our crickets a blend of corn and red wheat flake made at our local grain mill (sold as cricket feed on our site)
You can feed them our cricket feed, chicken mash, or cornmeal at home. We highly recommend using Repashy Bug Burger as it contains their complete diet and a water source in one. If you feed chicken mash, be sure it doesn't have any chemical additives (antibiotics, for example). Crickets need 15 to 20% of their diet to be usable protein. Alternately, if you avoid corn, fish flakes are made from dried fish and are nice and high in protein. You can also use dry milk, ground dry cat or dog food, ground alfalfa, or ground rabbit pellets. They will just need a water source as well.
We don't feed our crickets gel-type water; on our large scale, we find it too hard to keep it consistently fresh and worry too much about bacterial contamination. Instead, we use chicken water feeders so we can sanitize them and give them fresh water daily. This can be replicated at home using a damp sponge in a shallow dish with water.
