Your worms need a water-based fruit or vegetable for their water source, but they need grain for their food.
We recommend and use wheat bran, but you can also use 100% oats or whole barley. We recommend using organic grain if you can to avoid all pesticides. Next to our bran, the very best top-of-the-line thing you can feed them is Bob's Red Mill wheat bran which is available in most grocery stores. You can find the closest location to you on their website: http://www.bobsredmill.com/dealer_locator.php
For their water source, we feed them roughly chopped carrots because their high starch content holds onto the water rather than releasing it as the vegetable decomposes.
