We ship your hornworms in a habitat with food enough to last one week. If you are planning to grow your hornworms to full size you will need additional food when purchasing the 25ct small.
Our hornworms come in two counts: 25 or 12 hornworms. Each is shipped at the same size of 1/2 to 3/4" long. Each has food to last them for shipping and a for few days after until they're fed off (the 25 small are in a smaller cup and with less food for the purpose of being fed off while small, not to grow). In warmer temps, the hornworms will become very active and eat their food. If you want a cup of 25 to last longer, next time you can order a cup of our Hornworm Diet to prepare for them but in the meantime here is what you can do: While hornworm chow (the paste in the cup) has their complete diet, in a pinch you can also feed them Mulberry tree leaves, green tomatoes, broccoli, spinach, celery, collard greens, red bell peppers, banana peel, and dandelion leaves. Their natural diet in the wild is tomato leaves, but worms that have been fed tomato leaves can be toxic to reptiles and should be avoided. If you want to purchase 25 and have them last longer, just pop them into the warmest part of your fridge (usually high up inside the door). But, if you want hornworms that can grow to a larger size, then the 12 count cup with a larger volume and more food is the best way to go.
