It is a very laborious and time-consuming venture. Each worm must be segregated from all other worms and light, and then allowed to pupate into a beetle. It takes roughly 2 weeks for the adult worm to emerge as a beetle.
The resulting beetles are allowed to mate, and the eggs will produce offspring.
We allow a full 6 months for the babies to grow into adults to reach full size.
Because each beetle is singly cared for, Superworms are our most expensive worm at $15.00 per thousand, and why many people prefer to purchase them rather than breed them at home.
