Depending on the weather and the number of mealworms you have you will need to add them two to three times a week.
Carrots are a nice starchy vegetable that are designed to hold moisture underground (as a root), so they make the perfect vegetable to provide a long term water source for your mealworms. In hotter weather, they may need to be replaced more frequently as they'll dry out faster. If you have a large number of larger mealworms who drink more you'll also need to replace more frequently as well.
