While the mantis is growing, they will live very happily in a 32oz cup with a screen lid.
When they are larger, a small enclosure like the ZooMed Creatures terrarium works very nicely!
They need sticks for climbing and to aid in shedding, and substrate that will absorb water and not grow mold easily. We recommend potting soil, bark pieces, sand, or vermiculite. The sticks can be either natural ones or fake decorative branches.
Just be sure not to use any wood products that have cedar in them (it has a natural insecticide).
Keep your enclosure humid enough for the requirements of your mantis, as humidity is the usual culprit for the death of mantids. Spraying water and using living plants are the best ways to increase humidity as well as providing drinking water.
