The heat pack has iron in it; when we pack your shipment we add the pack and shake it to mix the contents.
When the iron is exposed to air it oxidizes into Iron oxide (ferric oxide) and produces heat as a by-product.
The iron is packed in such a way that it is only exposed in small amounts at a time so that the heat will continue to be emitted for 72 hours.
