Fall is the best time to add redworms to your soil. Choose a day that's not raining and they will burrow down.
They will propagate more readily and start eating right away if you can fluff up the soil and work some compost in at the same time. Add your redworms in the late afternoon so they will be out of the hot sun and will be able to work their way underground.
If conditions remain right, they and their descendants will aerate and fertilize your garden for years to come.
