Our fruit flies are flightless. They have been bred to have curly wings so they are not able to fly.
We have two types of fruit flies:
_Drosophilia melanogaster_: 1/16"
_Drosophilia hydei_: 1/8"
We ship your culture with 100 flies to start, in a culture that is 20 days old. Because of this, your culture will be ready to use as soon as you receive it. Be sure to either use or release the flies if your culture gets crowded or you will start to get die-off from overcrowding.
