Today is October 14th, 2019 - Columbus Day
We have USPS (the low-cost standard shipping) disabled until Tuesday evening. USPS doesn't allow the shipment of live animals and plants one business day before a national holiday. In addition, since no shipments can be made by USPS, then for guaranteed methods of shipping (e.g., UPS, FedEx etc.) on Monday there will be an extremely large volume of shipments at the airports on Tuesday. Unlike FedEx and UPS; USPS is not guaranteed to arrive in a specific amount of time and therefore is given the last priority at the airports. Cages with USPS packages waiting for flights will sit on the tarmac for many hours in the sun and in the engine fuel vapors at BEST. At worst, they are put in a storage room and forgotten for several days (this has happened numerous times). Because of this, during times when this scenario occurs, we turn off USPS completely until we know shipping your live order to you is safe. While we are missing an incredible amount of sales and potential new customers by doing this, we don't want to risk either the health of your shipment or our reputation by taking orders over the holiday. Your satisfaction and trust in our company are more important to us in the long run. Thank you so much for the chance to explain our rationale.
