We need to research your order including the length of time in travel to you, and temperatures during delivery of your order if applicable.
We will also need to assess your storage arrangements to ensure the correct housing, food and water, and temperature requirements are being met.
If the time en-route to you and the ambient temperature were in normal limits during delivery, we will likely let you know that:
1. It might be a temperature problem. When kept at either temperature extreme, Giants will turn dark first at the ends, and then entirely. 2. When kept at room temperature because of their castings Giants in a tray can be 20° hotter than the surrounding air. Be sure they are being sifted every 3 to 4 days to keep them cool in the summertime. Make sure they are no deeper than 1.5" with bedding and are kept at 78° or cooler. 3. They must have fresh carrots chopped in 2" segments at least twice weekly. 4. In the fridge, make sure they're not in a cold or damp spot (for instance the crisper). The spot your fridge designates for milk is usually the coldest spot at 40°, but mealworms should be stored no cooler than 42°. The farthest place from the milk will usually be this temperature. For most people, that's the top shelf and nearest the door in the front. If you have an instant-read type thermometer, it might help you locate the area that's the best for fridge storage.
