The time line is very dependent on temperature, with an average of 20 weeks to complete the life cycle from egg to beetle.
On average they grow at a rate of 0.08" per week under optimal conditions.
Egg Incubation: 4-19 days (usually 4-7)
Larva: 10 weeks. Visible after about a week or two
Pupa: 10 – 24 days
Beetle and Egg Laying: 8-12 weeks (followed by death). Egg-laying starts 4-19 days (average 12) after emergence
Ours are roughly:
Mini 1/4" 3 weeks old
Small 1/2" : 6 weeks old
Medium 3/4" : 9 weeks old
Large 1": 12 weeks old
