While the springtails won't eat the gnats, they will eat fungus and decaying material which will keep fungus gnats to a minimum.
A better way to eliminate gnats is to fill a small cup with vinegar and a little dish soap (mixed up) and place it in the bottom of your enclosure. Within minutes the gnats will be attracted to it and drown. Just be sure to protect the cup or monitor it so your curious animals don't try to drink it.
