Can I use this in the upside down container like it comes when purchased or will it not hold?

Yes, the 1 lb hornworm food is the same food that is in the cups we sell. We always recommend keeping your cups upside down so that your worm's droppings will land on the lid of the cup and not their food. Keep your cup ventilated by placing a pencil under one side or by placing your cup on top of a screened enclosure. Allowing fresh air to circulate in your cup will keep your worms healthy by keeping moisture at a minimum.
