Phoenix worms are the gold standard of feeders, but many bearded dragons are slow to make the switch, especially if they are used to fast-moving feeders like crickets or dubia.
However, it's very worth it to encourage them to make the switch as they are extremely high in calcium (you won't need to dust feeders anymore!), and have the perfect balance of calcium and phosphorus and can be fed as a staple. The best way to offer them is on the first meal of the day when your beardies are very hungry (or on the first protein day for adult dragons). Rather than offering them in a dish, they may be placed directly in front of your dragons so they will see them walking and instinctively try to catch them. Like any feeder, the amount they eat in 10 minutes is usually the correct amount when fed throughout the day. They will last longest when kept between 50 and 60° F. Most refrigerators are too cold, though some have a butter compartment in the door that is the correct temperature. Storing them at room temperature is okay, but they will only last 2 to 3 weeks. Thank you so much, and we look forward to shipping you trademarked Phoenix Worms®!
